Description
Photograph taken of the Inukshuk Monument at English Bay.
This ancient symbol of the Inuit culture is tradionally used as a landmark and navigation aid and also represents northern hospitality and friendship.
This beautiful piece is constructed of grey granite by Alvin Kanak of Rankin Inlet. It was commissioned by the government of the Northwest Territories for its Pavillion at Expo 86 and later given to the City of Vancouver. It was moved to this site in 1987. It is an iconic attraction and gives a great feel of being welcome to Vancouver, BC.
