Beginning in 2001, this Great Blue Heron colony has made this location their nesting home in Stanley Park and is one of the largest urban colonies of herons in North America. With the return of these birds in February to the nesting area the courtship will begin producing two chicks per pairing in April sometime. The trees that are used here for nesting are maple, oak, and london planetrees.
Photograph taken in the evening just before sunlight focusing on one Great Blue Heron amongst the bare tree branches.
